FAQ

Chrome wheels

Can they be repaired?

Other than straightening, chrome wheels cannot be repaired. Most chrome wheels consist of chrome/plastic caps which are non replaceable. Chrome cannot be sanded therefore very distinct lines are apparent in any attempt to repair.

Can they be re-chromed?

Yes, but cost starts at $300 (plus shipping and handling), wheels are shipped to the US and can take up to 6 weeks to complete.

Can you supply replacement chrome wheels?

Yes, but used OEM chrome wheels are sourced from scrapped vehicles, we cannot be sure that quality will meet expectations. We can sometimes supply non OEM chrome wheels but supplies are never predictable. Typical cost is 1/2 that of OEM , depending on quantities ordered. If they are available we usually need about 6 business days to obtain.

Machine faced wheels

Can you repair corroding and flaking on the machined areas?

Fortunately there are two ways to rejuvenate your wheels. The first is to re-color the pockets and re-machine the face back to original. This process is takes about 5 business days and costs about $225 per wheel. The second method is to recolor the entire wheel. Cost is standard starting at $125 per wheel with one day service.

Can you renew machine faced wheels that have gouges and scratches?

Yes, in most cases unless the gouges are deeper that approximately 3mm, as it is not safe to remove any more material.

Can you color match the pockets of a machine faced wheel to my car, if so do you charge more?

Again the answer is yes, this is a great way to customize your car. We charge an extra $15 per wheel for custom colour matching to your vehicle.

Polished alloy wheels

Can you re-polish?

Yes we can, we usually require the wheels for 5 business days.

My polished wheels are peeling can you spot repair?

Typically no, it is not possible to match sheen and re apply clear coat in a manner that is both cost effective and meets our high standards. We recommend re-polishing the complete wheel set. It is difficult to polish only one wheel to exactly the same sheen and brightness as existing.

How much does it cost to have my wheel re-polished?

About $250 per wheel.

How long do you warranty re-polished wheels?

All refinished wheels are warranted for 1 year against flaking and peeling. We cannot warranty wheels that have been road damaged (stone chips, scrapes, use of harsh chemical cleaners or mechanical damage). We stand behind our workmanship and guarantee that you will be pleased or we will refinish.

Curb damage repair

Can you make those scrapes on my wheel disappear caused by a brush against a curb?

Depending on the finish of your wheel we can make your wheel almost new again. Using our proprietary repair processes we can repair most wheel damage to where, unless you knew where the damage was initially our repair area is difficult to spot. We cannot claim to make your wheel new but we can re-seal the alloy from further corrosion damage and help make it look great again. Machine or polished faced wheels are more challenging to do spot repairs and as such repair area is a little easier to spot. We clear coat the wheel to seal and protect from further damage this helps to keep your car looking great longer.

Why should I bother to repair curb damage?

Experience and testing has shown that by re-sealing the the damaged wheel surface, serious corrosion damage is much less likely to occur. This keeps your wheels looking great longer in our tough Canadian climate.

Straightening

Can all wheels be straightened?

Not all wheels are safe to be straightened,a severely bent wheel may have been structurally compromised and could fail in future use. We have your safety covered.

How can you tell if a wheel is safe to straighten?

All of our technicians are certified in the safe use of our patented straightening machine. We take your safety seriously, as we are franchisees of a the worlds largest mobile wheel repair company our engineers have developed strict test parameters that we adhere to before any straightening is attempted.

Do wheels ever crack during the straightening process?

Yes occasionally wheels do crack during straightening, we find that non OEM rims are more likely to crack as manufacturing standards are not as stringent.

Will you weld a crack that occurs during your straightening process?

We will weld a crack that we determine safe to repair. Prior to straightening we will first do a visual inspection at no charge. At this time we will be able to determine whether it is safe to proceed with further testing prior to straightening. It is necessary for our technician to clean, mount to our machinery and further test bend parameters before heating and straightening. It is necessary that we charge a $50 assessment fee for this service. OEM wheels tend to have a much less likelihood of cracking during repairs as manufacturing standards are more stringent. Typically most manufacturers recommend that a new wheel is purchased, we offer a cost effective alternative. We cannot guarantee welds due to the unpredictability of differing alloy content in each wheel.

Can you tell by looking at the wheel on the car of it is bent?

No, the bend is found on the inside or “barrel” of the wheel as it is the weakest area. The wheel needs to be removed from the car to find the damage.

Can you straighten the front lip of a wheel?

Yes, but due to the fact that in most cases it is necessary to apply heat to facilitate malleability of the alloy we also need to refinish the area we damage. Total cost for this procedure ranges from $125-$200.

Re-coloring & customization

What colours do you carry?

We stock 32 OEM colours , black, and white.

Can you paint my wheel any colour?

Yes we can paint any colour of the rainbow, we charge an extra $15 per wheel for non stock colours as we have to arrange paint codes and have a custom batch of paint mixed.

Do you warranty my customized wheels?

We want you to be pleased with your new wheels and as such stand behind our workmanship. We guarantee your new finish against flaking or peeling for one year.

How long do you need my wheels/car for?

We want you to be enjoying your new wheels in as short a period of time as possible, we do need the wheels for 1 day. We try to work around your schedule and invite you to book in advance.

Types Of Wheel Damage

1. BACKSIDE BENDS

PROBLEM: Occurs frequently on the inner lip of the wheel but possible on the outer lip, spokes, or face. Bends are usually a result of a pothole, curb, or other road hazard.

SOLUTION: Bends are inspected for for hidden fractures and run out is measured to determine if safe to straighten. Bends are returned to balanceable trueness with patented straightening system.

2. CURB DAMAGE

PROBLEM: Typically the result of curb rash, road debris, or driving on a flat tire. Damage is generally located on the lip of the wheel, spokes, or face.

SOLUTION: Wheels are repaired, primed, painted, and clear-coated utilizing patented paint adhesion technology OEM-approved paint is color-matched to every wheel before repair.

3. CORROSION

PROBLEM: Caused by roadside chemicals, salts, brake dust, tire sealants, or other external elements.

SOLUTION: Wheels are repaired, primed, painted, and clear-coated utilizing patented paint adhesion technology OEM-approved paint is color-matched to every wheel before repair.

4. GOUGES

PROBLEM: Often the result of direct contact with road debris and/or hazards.

SOLUTION: Requires welding and CNC machining at our remanufacturing facility. Deep gouges to rim or spoke may be deemed unsafe to repair and an OEM replacement wheel may be required.

5. CRACKS

PROBLEM: Can occur because of car accident or hard impact with road debris and/or hazard.
